About Us

Cairngorm Snowsports is a not-for-profit organisation which trades as The Ski School and The Snowboard School. We are the only ski and snowboard school based on Cairngorm Mountain, and we work in partnership with Cairngorm Mountain Ltd (the operators of the ski area) to give customers the best option for lessons and packages. We offer all levels of instruction and coaching, from getting beginners going and giving them the confidence to do it on their own, to freestyle and race training courses.

We are members of the BASI Kitemark scheme, the only quality assurance scheme for ski and snowboard schools and are inspected annually to ensure we meet their high standards of teaching and customer service. We also meet the quality and safety standards for use of the Cairngorms Brand and are an associate member of Snowsport Scotland.

We are proud to support the following charities:

- BSSSA (Badenoch and Strathspey Schools Snowpsorts Association) - set up to deliver snowsports to all Primary school children in Badenoch and Strathspey

- John Muir Trust - the leading wild land conservation charity in the UK, also delivering their educational initiative, the John Muir Award

Instructors

Our instructors have many years of experience teaching skiing and snowboarding in Scotland and around the world. They are carefully chosen for their patience and teaching skills, but also for their passion for the sport, and their desire to pass this on to others. All our instructors are qualified, with a majority qualified through the British Association of Snowsport Instructors (BASI) and a few with equivalent qualifications from other countries (mainly NZ, Australia, Canada, Austria and US), and we hold criminal record disclosure checks for all our instructors. In order to maintain the high standards of quality and customer service that our customers expect, we deliver regular training (leading to higher levels of qualification) throughout the season.

Our Quality Promise

- We only employ qualified instructors

- We do not charge if lessons do not operate (due to snow and weather conditions)

- We operate with a maximum class size of 10 for skiing and 8 for snowboarding (as we feel this is a safe and professional maximum)

- We recognise that children and adults learn in different ways (so aim to operate separate classes for adults and children when possible)
